Services

The role and function Oxalis perform depends on the needs of our clients and the nature of the project. We often take the lead in coordinating the preparation, promotion and delivery of development schemes, from inception through to delivery.

Strategic Land Promotion

We regularly work with landowners or developers to promote land for allocation through the local plan process. This process can often take several years from start to finish and relies on clear and persuasive planning arguments, alongside good and effective relationships with Local Planning Authorities and other key consultees. We are also very aware of the importance of understanding the influence of local and national politics in planning decisions.

We play an active role at Local Plan examinations, both through written representations, and by attending examination hearings to seek to influence the plan-making process.

Examples of successful strategic land promotion include major residential schemes, mixed-use urban extensions, including sites released from the Green Belt, as well as strategic employment sites.. Please see our Case Studies.

Site Appraisal and Masterplanning

We work with landowners and developers who come to us with a site keen to understand the opportunities and potential it may offer.

As part of land promotion and planning applications we usually lead the masterplanning process, bringing in other consultants and specialists as required.

Planning Applications

Stratigic Land Promotion
We coordinate development schemes from the earliest stages of inception, and steer them through the planning process from start to finish. Our fundamental role is to secure the planning permission required to enable them to be delivered and value to be realised.

We work with and coordinate teams of other consultants often acting as the lead consultant on behalf of clients. We more often than not take the lead and manage the process of political engagement and public consultation. Given the high proportion of large sites our work often involves the preparation of Environmental Statements as part of major planning applications.

We have played a leading role securing consent for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and many large scale residential and commercial schemes.

However, our portfolio of projects includes many smaller sites which bring a range of other challenges and issues to the fore. We are actively involved in sites which require Green Belt release.

We have worked closely and constructively with Local Planning Authorities to bring forward many unallocated sites in response to a clear need for additional development outside of that allocated within local plans.

See Case Studies for examples of the type of project we work on.
